Friday night is usually our Community Group night. We chose Friday because that was the day when most of the people in the group where available, and it has been a lot of fun!

When we meet we talk about the week’s Big Idea. This month the "Hooked" series has sparked great conversation! Afterwards almost everyone hangs around for a while and we end up having an impromptu party. These people have become like our family away from home, and I always look forward to it.

The experience with C-Groups has me wondering about my leadership in other groups. God is slowly convicting me on how to shepherd the people in other areas of ministry by loving on them just like we love our Community Group. To me that’s a big part of leadership, because it’s all about the people. Simple, right? But sometimes we get so busy and task-driven that we just forget. In this case, even though the "task" is to talk about the Big Idea, the content is just a tool that works for us, but we do not work for that tool. The tool helps us talk about the Big Idea so we can grow together as we love one another.

If you want to join any one of our Community Groups at The Pursuit, go to www.thepursuit.cc for details.

*Shameless plug*: My wife Erin is the Community Groups director at The Pursuit, and she is doing an awesome job at it! She is just amazing all around!

I know, I know, it’s been a while since I’ve posted. I apologize to my gentle readership, all four of you. So, while I think about what to blog… about, I leave you with a video that will warn you about a very serious problem. Warn your kids about it! Say "about" one more time!

This last Sunday I had the honor of baptizing Jaime Lopez, a dear friend who is a part of The Pursuit. Jaime and his family are also part of our bilingual community group which meets on Friday nights. Him and his family are among the nicest people I know!

This is the stuff I love about doing ministry, seeing people take their next steps with Jesus is a beautiful thing.

Felicitaciones Jaime!

Ever since I’ve lived in South Florida I’ve noticed a trend in the way people refer to places with the name "South" attached to it to make it sound cool. They shorten the words and make it one. For example, South Beach = SoBe; South Florida = SoFlo. I’ve also noticed that other places in the country do it as well: SoCal = Southern California.

So, in an effort to be cool, which I am not but maybe this will get me closer, I propose that we apply the same rules to "South America." If we do that, I could just be from SoAme (pronounced: SoAmee).

Then, other places could do it too: South Broward = SoBrow; South Africa = SoAf; South Dakota = SoDa; South Park = SoPa; etc.

What do you think… cool? Or SoLame?
