This is where Santa is by the time I  write this post. Is there any privacy left for anyone anymore???

Last Saturday we took part of a community event called Snowfest, where the city of Pembroke Pines brings artificial snow for kids to play in. Last year The Pursuit brought Frosty the Snowman so people could get free pictures with him. This year we brought him again, and we also had the chance of bringing our band there to play! I was so glad to have had that opportunity. For months I've been looking to take our band out into the community and this was a great chance to do so. This is something I want us to keep doing with a missional focus. Everyone in the band was prepared to meet new people, make contacts, and leave a good impression, and I was so proud of them for doing just that!

Purposely, we played mostly "secular" songs that have been played at The Pursuit's celebration services as specials, so that people could recognize them and be able to connect with them and with us. Some of the songs we played are: "Me Enamora" (by Juanes), "Bendita la Luz" (Mana/Juan Luis Guerra), "Testimonio" (Juan Luis Guerra), "One" (U2), "Far Away" (Nickelback), "I Don't Wanna Be" (Gavin DeGraw), "Heaven" (Los Lonely Boys), and others. We also played "Find The Reason," by Salvador, a Christian band, and three Christmas songs covered by Third Day.

Overall, it was a great experience, and I know next time we play out will be even better. There are a couple of opportunities for 2009 that I'm excited about, and will announce in due time.

A special thanks goes out to Francie Novo of the city of Pembroke Pines for giving us the chance to play there, and to all the volunteers, artists and leaders of The Pursuit who worked so hard for this event!

I cannot believe it’s been a month since I’ve posted! So, while I think of something clever or dumb to say, I thought I’d post a little something I made last week while on vacation in the north. It was used at our service on Sunday morning to present the song “Always Winter” by Relient K.
